In the May 2009 issue of Website Magazine Karon Thackston let the cat out of the bag about article marketing. So what is article marketing? What should your articles be about? And how can article marketing help you? The answers are only a click away…
“Article marketing is a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry. These articles are made available for distribution and publication in the marketplace. Each article contains a bio box and byline that include references and contact information for the author’s business. Well-written content articles released for free distribution have the potential of increasing the authoring business’ credibility within its market as well as attracting new clients.” (Wikipedia)
Article marketing is only effective if you have quality information. Therefore, you should write articles on specific topics that would be considered important to members within your industry. Thackston recommends writing “unbiased reviews, case studies, and how-to articles”.
Although your article should not be a direct shout out to your company or its products, your bio should be! As Thackston says in her article, the bio at the end of your article “is your chance to publicize your company, products, and services”. By participating in article marketing your articles are distributed to various sites specific to your industry. If viewers of your article find it informative and think others should read it, then they’ll likely pass the article on as well as the publicizing bio.
